On the outside, sure, they can be all kinds of different colors. But what he wants is on the inside.

Tom Dumont says, "When you're dating, especially long distance, you don't have the physical part that can distract you. you're forced to get to know each other on the phone."

Dumont decided to give online dating a try. He says he went through a few bad eggs closer to home. And even when he started trading e-mails with Erin, a farmer's daughter from Illinois, his search might have been over, but it definitely wasn't easy.

He says, "Both my brothers thought I had gone off the deep end. I might as well have bought a Russian bride. Erin's family was the same. Her sister send me an e-mail with about 100 questions."

Some would say their love story got off to a late start. Erin and Tom have both gone through tough marriages and when they met in San Francisco for their first date her flight landed five hours late.

Erin says, "It was just agony to wait five minutes more. I waited 43 years to get this man. He was worth waiting the extra five hours for."

Tom adds, "We had one date and to be honest with you I wanted to marry her right then."

But Tom says Erin is the more rational one. She wanted to wait a little longer to start their fairy tale. But sort of like the song, this story reads "the farmer takes a wife"--five months later.

Tom says, "Gosh, I feel like I'm cheating. We haven't disagreed and if we have we talked and it was over. We have a relationship that I would say is extraordinary."

The pair still exchanges their share of letters, but now as a family, playing scrabble, and under the same roof.

Timing was perfect for Erin and Tom. They met on a Christian dating site called "Love and Seek". After their love connection that site shut down. They say knowing they shared the same values was the perfect starting point to their relationship. And it has kept them together for five years.

source: ktvl.com

A Dating Book I Actually Sort Of Liked

I accidentally meandered over to the Christian dating section at Barnes and Noble yesterday. As a rule, I’d stopped reading Christian dating books in college when I realized that all of them were written by happily married women who met their equally Christian husbands in high school or college. Sorry, ladies, but you simply cannot understand how it feels to "wonder" if that’s your story. I remember hearing from a couple at a Christian conference who refrained from kissing until they were engaged and another whose then-boyfriend had come to visit her at her out-state-school and slept in his car rather than the couch in her living room in order to "avoid temptation." This stuff just sounded unrealistic and unnecessary to me so after swallowing "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" by Joshua Harris (world’s most famous Christian dating book!), I went at it without literary assistance.

So — back at B&N yesterday — I found this book by comedian Kerri Pomarelli and the description jumped out at me: Kerri said she wrote the book because she was tired of authors with the ‘I didn’t meet my husband until I was seventeen, and I’m so glad I waited’ story. Puh-lease. So I flipped through the hilarious and heartbreaking book, formerly titled "If I’m Waiting on God, What am I Doing in a Christian Chat Room?" Kerri takes the reader through her adventures in online dating and real life relationship drama. It was nice to hear from a woman who truly understood the struggle of the 20-something dating scene. Her weaknesses for certain types of men, consistently reconnecting with ex-boyfriends who were bad for her and going out with the "perfect" guy but not finding any chemistry are all chronicled on these pages. I walked away thinking Kerri and I would have A LOT to talk about.

In the end, Kerri ended up with a 14-month dating dry spell before meeting her husband, a guy she’d never considered and had been setting friends up with. So hers is another happy story and a reminder that most people end up with one of similar joy if they just wait for the right one. I honestly believe that though a lot of people get fed up and settle for "not quite but good enough." She didn’t reveal the happy ending in the book, but I tracked down her website because I liked her so much. If you are looking for funny book that doesn’t cut corners about real life on the 20-something dating scene, check out "Guys Like Girls Named Jennie" by Kerri Pomarelli.

Source

Christian dating via text messaging

The Jewish Journal of greater L.A, CA

When I was graduating high school and entering college, there was a book by Joshua Harris that was gaining traction among evangelical Christians. It was called “I Kissed Dating Goodbye,“ and what it meant for a few of my friends was kissing their girlfriend goodbye.

To be fair to Harris, the book’s focus was on growing closer to God by giving up dating—a cause the Apostle Paul, and this lowlier apostle, would support. But the book convinced a good many Christian women I knew—for some reason, never men—that they really shouldn’t date. Period. Instead, they should meet someone and if that someone seemed special, they should court; if the courtship survived, then they should get married. Placing purity at a premium, the model overemphasized precaution as a means of avoiding temptation.

I’ve been out of the dating game for quite a few years now, so I’m not privy to today’s M.O. Several of my friends have met their match online, which would have been unthinkable when I was single. And it appears a few companies, according to an email I received from dating-service BluePont, are hooking Christians up via text messaging:

Most Christians truly believe that God orchestrates our love stories. That might sound romantic but it’s true. At the same time, for many Christians, meeting that special someone in the “typical” places like church groups and events hasn’t worked—whether because they’ve been there, done that, or they simply don’t have the time. And most Christians are not going to be looking for their soulmate in secular places like bars and clubs!

So, what’s a single Christian to do?

More <a href="http://www.jewishjournal.com/thegodblog/item/christian_dating_via_text_messaging_20081125/"target=_blank>here

Church to host Christian singles event

Single Christian adults are invited to St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 2000 Shutterlee Mill Road from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday for a Christian Adult Singles Evening. "With our bylaws, we are a nonsmoking and (non)drug-using club, and we expect Christian behavior from all who attend (the events)."

Marsh said the group is very open and loving, accepting people from any Christian faith. The age requirement is at least 18, and members are required to sign paperwork stating that they are in fact both Christian and single.

"We're trying to unify people, and Jesus wants us to enjoy our lives and have fun," Marsh said.

Many of the members so far are women, but a few males are also there for companionship. Some are just testing the waters, eager to meet various people.

"I want to meet new people and get involved with other people in the community and churches," said Beth Mautz of Zanesville. "I'm just looking for friends right now, but I'm open to meeting someone (for a relationship) if God opens that door."

The group hosts events where singles like Mautz can mingle and mix. On Saturday some of the members were enjoying a few rounds of bowling at Sunrise Bowl on East Pike. Previous events included dances, potlucks and Bible studies. Some events such as bowling and cookouts and hikes are open; Marsh even took her two grandsons to Saturday's trip to the bowling alley.

Saturday's event was a first for Shelly Carnes of Roseville.

"I kept asking if there was anything for singles at my church, because there's a difference when hanging out with married people as opposed to singles," said the single mother of two. "I'm hanging out with my kids all the time, and this gives me something to do. It's nice to have a place where Christians can go to hang out with other Christians. I hope it grows. I'm looking for both friendship and a relationship; it would be nice to find someone to spend time with."

"A single mom needs time out in a Christian atmosphere where she can be safe," Marsh said. "I pray a lot for people to have a good time."

Mautz's brother, Robert Mautz, is part of the group. He was the only male in attendance Saturday, but said he enjoyed it.

"I've met a lot of new people, and it's going good so far; we're all just getting to know each other," he said.

Zanesville resident Sue Tobin, one of Marsh's friends, said though she's not much of a bowler or dancer, she enjoys all the events and getting together with newfound friends.

Although the group is in its beginning stages, it has a lot going for it. Marsh has made it her mission to spread the word about the group.

"I personally invite any Christian single who needs prayer or fellowship or friends to call us and participate," she said. "Come and find new friends."

For more information about the Muskingum County Christian Singles, contact group organizer Marsha Marsh at mccs123@yahoo.com or by leaving a message at 740-453-9548.

Free Dating Sites Popular for Christian Singles According to ..

ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with twelve million monthly page loads, asked readers to participate in a new survey by asking, "Should Christians use dating sites to find a spouse?" The majority of readers who participated in this survey felt that free dating sites for Christian singles are a popular place to meet a potential mate. One Believer showed his or her belief in God's sovereignty by sharing, "God can bring two people together any way He chooses so why limit Him?"

Out of 314 participants, 157 answered "yes" to the survey question. Believers in this survey seem to overall agree that God can bring two people together by using free dating sites. These sites provide a meeting place for those who might not ever meet any other way. Bill Cooper, President of ChristiaNet says, "Christian singles should choose a Christian site for meeting other Believers." One Believer said, "My husband and I met online and we've been together for 7 years."

Ninety-eight readers were unsure about meeting someone on the Internet. Many agree that it is important to ask the Lord for guidance and recognize that if it is God's will, it will happen. Christian singles shouldn't force the issue and jump into a relationship too quickly but should be patient and prayerful. One Believer wrote, "I think friendship should be a starting point for any relationship." Christians should rely on God's guidance and let Him be in charge." Many people put feet to their prayers because they are in a hurry but it is best to let things happen in God's timing. Believers need to trust in the Lord, and when the answer comes, there won't be any doubts.

Fifty-nine participants answered "no" to the survey question. The overall consensus with this group is one of concern. Many respondents in this group do not feel the Internet is a safe place to meet a potential spouse. One reader wrote, "No, absolutely not! There is no safe way to really know who you are hooking up with on the Internet." Do free dating sites harbor deceivers? Well, if this is true, the Internet is not the only place deceivers can be found; some attend church services. But is it worth trying?

The internet is one of the safest portals for meeting other people for dating or a serious relationship. And with online dating trends gravitating towards specialty and community-based dating, we see an increase in the number of sites catering to Christian online dating.

There are advantages to this phenomenon. Some of the advantages include:

1. Wide net: You can search thousands of profiles of people sharing the same faith. There's a vast Christian network that has varied interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes. The big number gives you a better chance of finding one that you like.

2. Christian online dating provides a very comfortable environment and- though you still must exercise caution and commonsense- is considered safe. The online dating community is a place where you can create lasting relationships for acquaintance, friendship, companionship, romance, and can even lead to a permanent commitment.

3. In a Christian online dating site, the center is spirituality. People here believe they have filtered out the dates with people who may not share the same set of values. If you are joining a Christian online dating site, you'll know what you can expect.

4. You can narrow the field even farther down to an even more specific faith such as Catholic, Latter Day Saints (Mormon), Seventh Day Adventists etc.

5. You can be specific as to the level of religious commitment, to match your own. To some people going to church every Sunday may be deemed "Christian" enough; for others it could be more or less.

A Christian online dating website should include chat rooms where you can have fun discussions, both personal and biblical. In most sites, you can also post memos and notes on message boards and share pictures with photo galleries. And of course, you can send personal messages to private mail boxes.

Many dating websites also feature instant messaging and voice introductions for a more personal touch. Some of the Christian websites even offer Christian dating services aside from online matching.

Indeed, dating a stranger sharing your beliefs would be more reassuring than starting with somebody who does not share the same principles.

And as implied, the online society is Christ-centered. And by association, Christ is all pure love and kindness. If you join the group, this indicates you support Christian values and standards. Meeting the love of your life could be a possibility!

The Christian community now utilizes this current trend of communication to widen their reach and to create a fun-loving environment. Christian online dating has proved to be very effective for most people who participate with friendships and often blooms into serious relationships.

David Kamau is webmaster of http://e-datecentral.com which reviews websites. The vows may be traditional, or personalized. Traditional vows are vows that were used over and over. The vows were handed down from generations. Personalized Wedding Vows were made up vows by the Groom and Bride. Many couples feel deeply for each other and like to express their feelings. So, the couple opts to make their own wedding vows.

Here are three traditional Roman Catholic Wedding Vows

Groom: I (name), take you (name) to be my wife. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

Bride: I (name), take you (name) to be my husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

Groom: I (name), take you (name) for my lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.

Bride: I (name), take you (name) for my lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.

Groom: In the name of God, I (name) take you (name) to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow.

Bride: In the name of God, I (name) take you (name) to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow.

Here is a traditional Baptist Wedding Vows

Groom: I, (Name), take thee, (Name), to be my wife, and before God and these witnesses I promise to be a faithful and true husband.

Bride: I, (Name), take thee, (Name), to be my husband, and before God and these witnesses I promise to be a faithful and true wife.

Here are three traditional Episcopal Wedding Vows

Groom: I, (Name), take thee, (Name), to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, 'til death do us part, according to God's ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my troth.

Bride: I, (Name), take thee, (Name), to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, 'til death do us part, according to God's ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my troth.

Groom: (Name), I vow to be your faithful husband, understanding that marriage is a lifelong union, and not to be entered into lightly, for the purpose of mutual fellowship, encouragement and understanding; for the procreation of children and their physical and spiritual nurture. I hereby give myself to you in this cause, with my sacred vow before God.

Bride: (Name), I vow to be your faithful wife, understanding that marriage is a lifelong union, and not to be entered into lightly, for the purpose of mutual fellowship, encouragement and understanding; for the procreation of children and their physical and spiritual nurture. I hereby give myself to you in this cause, with my sacred vow before God.

Groom: In the Name of God, I, (Name), take you, (Name), to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow.

Bride: In the Name of God, I, (Name), take you, (Name), to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow.

The wedding exchange of vows is an important part of the wedding ceremony. There is no wedding ceremony without wedding vows. The witnesses take note of the wedding vows, and hold the couple accountable.

Dennis Estrada owns wedding roles, wedding exchange of vows, and wedding advice articles website that provides fashion, trends, and resources about wedding.

christian personals - adult dating site

A Christian Singles Place for Fellowship and Courtship : Koinonia Match November 22nd, 2006 A Christian Singles Place for Fellowship and Courtship :.A Christian Singles Place for Fellowship and Courtship : Koinonia Match

Is Anyone Burning in Hell Today?

Learn how to control your body and mind to seduce the opposite sex using a NLP seduction. How To Use NLP Seduction To Get More Girls!

Dating can be a minefield, no matter how old or young we are. No matter how you cut the deck, there has to be a first date. Of course, you may have known someone for a long time beforehand and been friends which should ease the tension.<a alt="Would You Like Advice On Dating? Done right, flirting gets people interested in each other without the stumbling for wordsFlirting Done Right - The Art Of Flirting

I am a hypocrite and in a little while I am going to take you through a list of my sins with nothing held back. You might never have seen a sermon like this article and might never want to see one again but God wants you to know that even you can be forgiven, seeing as he sees my sin and loves me enough to show it to you. I have not seen many sermons preached like this and met few preachers with all my faults and so I hope as I do it you might respect me more for my honesty toward the end rather then what I said about myself. Perhaps you would like to meet new people for dating or maybe for friendship, travel, support or mutual interests and activities.

It is an interesting fact that at least 80% of Americans are Christians and yet a large percentage of those don't know where to meet and build relationships with other like-minded single Christian people.

If you have your heart set on dating Christians then you may be limiting yourself unfairly by looking just in the places you worship, study, work or live. Trying to meet new people at your local church or at your local church social function for example, is not going to provide a lot of choice. Church is generally a family activity and most people attending will be in relationships already. There won't be too many eligible singles in that small social circle.

On the other hand, if you are open to meeting new people at every opportunity and everywhere you go you probably wont be very successful either. Most new people you meet will shy away from you if you introduce your Christian faith as a cornerstone of your life straight away. It is important to you and will be a fundamental requirement of any new relationship you are a part of so you feel that the subject must be raised up front. Unfortunately, unless you happen to fluke an interaction with someone who feels exactly the same way as you do, then you are just setting yourself up for rejection.

So at one end of the scale there is little choice and at the other end there is a sea of unwilling singles not keen on mixing it with someone who practises their faith openly -- Perhaps you could try loosening off the restrictions a little and hoping for the best. Keep your faith to yourself, hit the contemporary dating scene and see how you fair in the clubs, bars and parties. You may have to risk a lot of alcohol fuelled "fun", fend off unwanted attention and turn a blind eye to overt or offensive behaviour but you will certainly meet people. Things should go quite well until you bring up your Christian lifestyle. Your new friends may back off immediately. If not you will still find that any relationships you try to build under such circumstances will never deepen significantly due to the chasm of conflicting moral values between you.

Back to the church scene then-- Vary your attendance at different churches and encourage your local church members to engage in activities and functions with other churches and volunteer groups. This will widen your scope without compromising your focus. A bonus of this is that you may get to participate in activities that benefit the general community as well.

Outside of your church membership and activities there is a range of places you can go where meeting new single Christian friends is a real possibility, if you are prepared to be a little outgoing. Try the library, theatre, poetry readings, art galleries, book cafes etc. You can initiate conversations with interesting looking people in these places with ease as there will always be a common point of interest - that is the reason they are there.

Don't be too upfront about the fact you are actively seeking a Christian single friend or place too much emphasis on the importance of your beliefs. Start with general conversation and let these issues arise naturally if appropriate. You will soon know if you are talking to someone that you can 'click' with on more than one level and the relationship will progress from there.

Finally you should consider online dating. Christians by the millions use Christian single dating services. If you have regular access to the Internet, a single Christian dating service may be perfect for you. Your chances of meeting someone significant online are very good. It doesn't have to be just for romance either. Christians are searching for other Christians in lots of different categories online. Dating Christians is just one option. You could look for bible study pals or just someone with similar interests to chat with.

Think about it. You probably live in or near a population centre where thousands of suitable new friends may be but there is no likelihood of you ever meeting a lot of them face to face! Online however, the sky is the limit. Christian single dating services have a lot to recommend them.

It's true! An Internet single Christian dating service can place you in front of thousands of people just like yourself, looking for people just like you.
